Chemical Peels

Medical-Grade Chemical Peels
Tailored to Your Skin Type, Tone & Concerns

We know-the term “chemical peel” can sound a little intimidating. But in the hands of experts, it’s actually a highly effective, non-invasive way to rejuvenate the skin or remove pigment. With regular treatments, you can enjoy smoother, clearer, and younger-looking skin. Peels are also an excellent complement to acne treatments, to enhance and speed up your results

At Dermatology Clinics Australia, our peels are nothing like the harsh, scary treatments you may have heard about. Today’s medical-grade peels are precision-formulated and custom-applied, offering minimal downtime and maximum results-especially when prescribed and monitored by a dermatologist.

Chemical peels are clinical-grade exfoliating solutions applied to the skin to remove dead cells, stimulate renewal, and target specific concerns like acne, pigmentation, uneven texture, or ageing. Depending on the depth and type of peel, results may be subtle and gradual-or dramatic and deeply corrective.

What Sets Us Apart

We use only the highest-quality medical-grade solutions, and our team tailors every peel to your individual skin needs. Our dermatologists carefully assess your skin and provide personalised recommendations based on your concerns and goals.

Learn about Chemical Peels From Our Experts

What is a Chemical or Medical Peel?

Chemical peels involve the application of a compounded prescription solution to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, revealing the fresh, clean, healthy skin beneath. Depending on your skin type and concerns, we offer different types of medical grade peels, including salicylic and lactic acid based compounded prescription peels.

Superficial Peels: A mild treatment that brightens and refreshes the skin with minimal downtime. Ideal for improving texture and tone or addressing minor blemishes.

Medium Peels: Penetrating the outer and middle layers of skin, medium peels help to reduce fine lines, pigmentation, and acne scars, leaving skin looking revitalised.

Deep Peels: These are used for more advanced skin concerns, such as deeper wrinkles, significant sun damage, and prominent scarring. While results are dramatic, downtime is longer compared to other peel types.

Medical Peel Types

From gentle brightening to deeper resurfacing, our dermatologists prescribe a range of clinical-grade peels tailored to your skin goals. Each formulation targets specific concerns-like acne, pigmentation, or texture-while promoting long-term skin health and renewal. Explore the options below to discover the right solution for your skin.

Salicylic Acid Peels (BHA)

Salicylic acid is oil soluble and therefore excellent for clearing out oily skin, clogged pores and acne prone skin. This peel is excellent for exfoliating the skin and unclogging pores.

Lactic Acid Peels (AHA)

These are water soluble peels, and work on the superficial layers of the skin to remove surface pigment, and overall appearance of the skin. These peels are most commonly prescribed for patients with sensitive skin, pigmentation concerns or those looking for an overall healthy glow. These peels are also suitable during pregnancy.

Glycolic Acid Peels (AHA)

Glycolic Peels are a stronger peel that can improve the texture and tone of the skin. With the development of laser over the last 10years, glycolic peels are used much less frequently as the results are less controlled and prone to complications. Rejuvenation results are superior and more controllable with laser treatments, which have become the preferred treatment option for tone, texture and rejuvenation results.

What To Expect

Before Treatment

We begin with a detailed skin consultation to understand your concerns and ensure the right peel is chosen.

– You’ll receive pre-treatment prep instructions (e.g. avoid actives, sun, exfoliants).

During Treatment

A solution is applied to clean skin and left for several minutes. You may feel a mild tingling or warmth.

– Most peels are completed within 15–30 minutes.

After Treatment

– You may experience mild redness, tightness or light peeling over the next few days.

– Avoid active ingredients and exfoliation for 3–5 days, and apply sunscreen daily.

– Brighter, more refined skin is usually visible within 5–7 days.

We’ll guide you through post-treatment care to maximise results and protect your skin’s barrier.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are chemical peels safe for darker skin tones?
Yes. When performed correctly, peels are safe and effective for all skin tones. We use gentle protocols to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Will I peel or flake afterwards?
Depending on the depth of your peel, you may experience light flaking or dryness. Deeper peels may result in visible shedding. We’ll prepare you accordingly.
How many sessions do I need?
Light peels may be done in a series of 3–6 for best results. Deeper peels may only require 1–2. We’ll tailor your plan to your goals.
Can I wear makeup afterwards?
We recommend avoiding makeup for 24 hours to allow the skin to settle and recover.
Can peels be combined with other treatments?
Absolutely. Peels are often part of an integrated treatment plan alongside laser, RF, or prescription regimens.
